Pick your free domain

Type your project name to see the address on every domain. Pick the one you like and claim it — a project can only be claimed once across all 7 domains.

Lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens (a–z, 0–9, -).

  • your-project.openrepos.ioClaim
  • your-project.openrepos.orgClaim
  • your-project.openrepos.shClaim
  • your-project.repos.oneClaim
  • your-project.sourcepage.ioClaim
  • your-project.sourcepage.orgClaim
  • your-project.sourcepage.shClaim

Add one entry to register.json and open a pull request — free forever, and the domains are managed for the long term. Claims happen in the register repository.

How to claim a free subdomain

Five steps, one pull request — CI and a maintainer handle the rest.

  1. 1.

    Pick a domain

Choose a subdomain on one of the seven domains above, e.g. your-project.openrepos.org.

  2. 2.

    Edit register.json

Add your entry to register.json in the register repository and open a pull request.

  3. 3.

    Add the badge

Paste the badge snippet from the badge card below into your project README — it is required, and CI rejects claims without it.

  4. 4.

    Pass the checks

CI validates naming, duplicates, ownership, the target allowlist and the badge in your README.

  5. 5.

    Go live over HTTPS

Once a maintainer merges it, DNS is provisioned automatically and your subdomain is live at the edge.

Add the badge

New claims must show this badge in the project README. It reads pending until your claim is merged, then flips to live automatically — no README edits later. The status URL always points at openrepos.org, whichever domain you claimed.

Our promises

Free, permanent, and properly managed.

  • Free forever

No fees, no premium tier, no ads — now or later.

  • Here to stay

We manage all 7 domains for the long term and never recycle working subdomains.

  • Any language, any ecosystem

Rust, Python, Go, TypeScript, C — if it is open source, it qualifies.

  • One subdomain per project

One subdomain on one domain, so names stay fair and memorable.

  • HTTPS from your host

All approved providers issue a certificate for custom domains once you add the subdomain in their dashboard — records here are DNS-only.

  • Open source (MIT)

OpenRepos is open source: the claim schema, CI validation, DNS automation and badge gate are public — anyone can audit how claims are handled.
